Adverse events will always be present when entering a health entity, for this reason, the importance of identifying preventive actions and strategies that contribute to improving patient safety, avoid possible occurrences and factors that influence the incidence of events, thus in Adult Intensive Care Units (ICUA) To achieve the above, A literature review was conducted with the aim of compiling the documentation that exists about the behavior of adverse events presented in adult intensive care patients in Colombia. The study highlights the importance of internal audits that contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of health care; in this regard, a systematic documentary review study was used, corresponding to a compilation scientific monograph, the results will allow the auditor and the NICU to relate the information and identify the preventive measures of adverse events such as, patient safety and quality policies, risk management, general reporting culture, safety barriers. it is concluded that the strategies regarding AS in the ICUA are important since, they are actions that prevent the occurrence of events, achieving a better patient safety, guided by the SOGC in health and safety policy, These strategies serve as support for health systems, strengthening health quality and achieving the reduction of these AEs.
