Resumen en inglés
In previous times the world could have had the conception that people were more productive by being the greater amount of time at the work place. In some countries there has been a change in mentality and it has been shown that the opposite is true, but in others, such as Colombia, people continue to be unproductive despite having one of the longest working weeks in the world. The question arises as to how much influence the length of the working day and leadership has on productivity. Based on an arduous bibliographic review, it was sought a qualitative relationship between these factors, taking into account research carried out around the world, strategies of multinational companies among others. Studies have shown that productivity and extended working hours are inversely proportional, demonstrating that more hours in the office do not mean more output. On the other hand, new strategies at the time of leading influence in the increases of productivity, like Google that presented an increase of 42% in the last years. In general, it could be seen that the extension of the working day and leadership have an influence on the productivity of people, but other parameters such as education, training, salary, etc. must also be taken into account.
