Resumen en inglés
The role of the auditor plays an important role in patient safety against adverse events caused by the erroneous administration of medications, since it is in charge of searching for, determining and defining behaviors and improvement plans, verifying compliance with processes, protocols and guidelines established in health care institutions with patient safety; taking into account the most common adverse events presented during the provision of the service. For the preparation of this monograph, the function of the auditor in the prevention and management of adverse events that occur within the institutions was addressed; for which it is required to take into account a set of legal regulations that govern the General System of Social Security in Health (SGSSS), from which the administrative acts that are periodically updated and modified are deployed, in favor of the improvement for the quality in provision of health services and user satisfaction. In the development of the monograph it can be established that the role of the auditor, in relation to the management of adverse events, is focused from the analysis to their prevention through the different tools established by the institution, as well is the patient safety policy and pharmacovigilance.
