Publicación Acceso abierto Internship at Cristobal Colon School(2020-11-20) Marulanda Arrieta, Emanuel; Nieto, JaimeThe purpose of this report is to highlight the positive and negative aspects of my professional and personal experiences obtained during an internship process at the Cristóbal Colón School located in Monteria-Córdoba as an English teacher. This internship intended to enhance sixth grader's vocabulary and oral competence through different approaches and strategies, Using a WhatsApp group, online classes through different apps, and the institutional platform. The approaches/strategies implemented were communicative language teaching, flipped learning, gamification, and task-based language teaching. Additionally, a lesson plan is described. To finish, this report highlights conclusions, the recommendation and limitations of the whole experience.Publicación Acceso abierto Enhancing writing skills in 11th graders using R2l and gamification(2020-12-02) Muñoz Peinado, Ronny Samir; Romero, YanilisThis paper describes the internship, which was carried out at the educational institution Victoria Manzur, located south of Monteria city. It was carried out with the 11th graders of this place in a the completely virtual way during an academic semester, throughout this process three main steps were developed, the first one was to diagnose the level of literacy that the students had at the beginning of the process, the second one was working with them using the Reading to learn approach to improve their levels of literacy, the third one, was to find results that showed a significant change in the literacy of 11th-grade students. This process faced many pitfalls, especially because this internship was developed virtually in an unexpected way due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the students to start classes with little technological tools to work comfortably and learn in a better way. Regardless of the difficulties, all these events were part great experiences that enriched the teaching experience, which will be immensely valuable for future projects. Working with youngsters in a new reality for teachers promotes reflection about how challenging can be fulfilling the goal of teaching a foreign language such as English when teaching virtually.Publicación Acceso abierto Saber pro exam (national board examination preparation course)(2021-09-29) Sariego Verona, Verónica; Paz Wechek, Martha ElviraThis report describes and evidences the internship conducted at “Competencias Génericas” courses in the frame of Saber Pro University of Cordoba Institutional Program. Therefore, the purpose of this internship is to provide the future candidates of the test Saber Pro the knowledge and skills regarding reading strategies and vocabulary that might be necessary during the English section of the test. This internship was conducted through the implementation of Flipped Learning and E-Learning for the incorporation of technological resources in the virtual classroom with a focus on Reading Comprehension in relation to Covid-19 events to facilitate synchronous and asynchronous teaching modalities. In addition, explains in detail the pedagogical perspectives on which this educational proposal is based, that is Learner-Centered Teaching (LCT), Task-Based Language Learning TBLL) and Flipped Learning (FL) and the methodologies and strategies used. In addition, this internship was a privilege for me, due to the pandemic issues, most of my partners from last semester did not and could not enjoy this privilege. The purpose of this report is to highlight my experience during the internship in a public school and discuss how it enhanced my personal and professional development, as well as the knowledge about the internship after completing it. Therefore, this internship aims to provide students with knowledge and skills related to vocabulary acquisition. The goal was achieved through the implementation of the communicative language teaching approach to combine technology resources in the virtual classroom with a focus on understanding reading concerning the events of Covid-19 to facilitate synchronous asynchronous and face-to-face teaching methods. The purpose of the internship was to enhance and improve 4th and 5th graders’ academic performance and change their attitude towards learning English as a foreign language. In the process, vocabulary acquisition was sought and therefore the strengthening of the speaking skill which is involved in the communicating process. This report includes brief descriptions of ICTs and the use of Web 2.0 in language teaching/ learning, Communicative Language Teaching, and the Total Physical Response approach. Moreover, it targets the relevant aspects that were part of my internship process such as objectives, problems, as well as the strategies, and means used to address those. The methodology implemented in class derived from Active Learning instruction in order to make my students create new knowledge by activating previous knowledge through collaborative work, promoting a sense of community. As a consequence, there is a gap in the teaching-learning of the second language from the beginning of schooling. My internship was carried out through in-person classes and virtual classes at the Intitutución Educativa La Ribera (IE La Ribera) in Monteria which had as purpose to help students from 7, 8, 9, and 10th grades to improve their oral communication due to the difficulty they presented to express and communicate ideas or opinions, and thus achieve a better performance in the English classes. Moreover, explains in detail the pedagogical perspectives on which this educational proposal is based, that is Task-Based Language Learning, Learning center teaching, Self-Creative Approach, Gamification and Remote Learning. In addition, the different results evidenced in their learning process and some examples of improvement in oral communication in terms of presentations, working in groups, implementing their creativity and vocabulary acquisition.
