The present investigation, Its main objective is to analyze the risk of flooding presented by the inhabitants of the Remolino neighborhood located in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Lorica-Córdoba, from the characterization of the population of this area, taking into account their vulnerability to flooding, being able to identify the factors that influence this to occur. The development of this study was carried out using the explanatory method and a mixed approach, in order to publicize the causes of this problem. Through the implementation of variables and indicators, thus determining the level of threat, vulnerability and risk of flooding. In this way, the degree associated with the threat, vulnerability and risk of flooding was established. In this way, the degree of risk associated with these variables was established, which 39.3% corresponds to a low risk level, distributed in the central part of the study area, 39.2% represents a low risk level. medium which is distributed intermediately to the north and south, 19.3% corresponds to a high risk which is located on the borders of the neighborhood to the south, north and east, finally, the level of risk very high corresponds to 2.2% located south of the Remolino neighborhood. Thus, concluding that the aforementioned variables are associated with the proximity of the residences to the tributaries, the state of the housing, the type of material and inadequate land use in the vicinity of the Chimalito channel and the Sinú river
