Resumen en inglés
The study of language has been positioning itself in the field of research through different disciplines, such as Sociolinguistics, within which this work is framed. This, aims to identify the lexical variables used by sex workers in the tolerance zone of the city of Montería. Regarding the methodological design, the study is of a qualitative type and a descriptive approach, taking direct observation, the semi-directed interview and the field diary as techniques in the data collection process. The sample is made up of a group of sixteen individuals, eight of the female gender and eight of the male (Travesties), who work in the aforementioned area of the Cordovan capital. These are located between an age range that goes from eighteen to thirty-five years. Among the extralinguistic factors influencing people's speech, gender, age and origin are considered as the social variables taken into account and studied in the development of the research project, in order to determine their influence within the frequencies of use of the lexical variants used by the community under study. Similarly, establish the corresponding causes of these linguistic phenomena. From the research, it was possible to obtain a lexicon corpus used by the community in its daily life, and which maintains a close relationship with the various social variables treated.
