Resumen en inglés
Arterial hypertension corresponds to a silent, chronic, and noncommunicable disease that is caused by the force of the blood towards the walls of the vessels, this disease is associated with other comorbidities that can represent complications in the lives of patients, for which requires constant accompaniment and supervision. Objective: to determine the factors associated that contribute to the non-attendance of the arterial hypertension control program. Materials and methods: The present study was descriptive with a quantitative approach; it was carried out in the city of Montería in an ESE Public Hospital. The information was collected through the application of a semi-structured survey made up of 16 questions and applied to 17 patients who did not attend the arterial hypertension control program. Results: 65% of patients are women, most of them claimed to be illiterate, dedicated mainly to housework, belonging to the subsidized regime, with high blood pressure for more than 5 years. They assured that the main reason for non-attendance was due to lack of accompaniment followed by transportation problems. Conclusions: A disease such as arterial hypertension requires adequate and timely management to reduce the risk of complications, especially the development of comorbidities.
