Resumen en inglés
In the Wildlife Care and Assessment Center (CAV) of the Regional Corporation of the Sinú and San Jorge Valleys (CVS) specimens of wildlife are received through seizure, rescue or voluntary delivery, are valued medically and biologically, providing all necessary care according to the conditions of the specimen. Within the framework of these protocols is the process of morphometry, where body measurements of the animal are taken. On the other hand, the veterinary medical assessment is responsible for evaluating the state in which the individual is, taking into account the physiological state of the body, where variables such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate are measured, among others, to then determine if it will go to quarantine or if it can be released immediately. In the case of quarantine, adequate biological environment, nutritional diet and monitoring are carried out, according to age, size, sex and species. When the animals do not manage to survive the captivity, diseases or accidents, we proceed to perform necropsy, in order to obtain an accurate verdict of the death, conditions of the organs, sampling, etc. For this research work carried out in the CVS CAV, a follow-up process was carried out on a group of birds belonging to the order Passeriformes in order to obtain accurate data on the physiological and morphological conditions in which they would be released. In addition, we worked with past databases with a time interval of 7 months, where we sought to quantify the mortality of animals that die in the ACV, as well as identifying the most common cause.
