Resumen en español
The objective of the research project was to improve expressive-corporeal competence in children aged 8 to 12 years of the dance initiation program in the municipality of Acandí, Chocó. For this, the qualitative research approach and the methodological design of educational action research were used, for the collection of information the field diary was reproduced by the teacher; for analysis, coding techniques and categorization. The population consisted of 20 children. The educational action consisted of a pedagogical proposal made up of 27 class sessions divided into five didactic units. The results show that progress has been made in the coordination of upper and lower limbs, symmetrical movements (easy acquisition for some), in mapale and afrobeat (accuracy of execution) there was and remained great motivation for the strong rhythms, executing them with greater frequency and disposition, (body availability-orientation of one's own movements). The attitude improved teamwork while the meetings were held and in the choreographic montages, there was good body posture in most of the children and in terms of space management, it was acceptable. They recognized the fandango, the bullerengue as traditional neighboring rhythms that help the training process, in addition, the execution of the same together with the dance of the mapalé, afrobeat, salsa and merengue identifying the theme of each one and the facial and body expression when performing it, that is, communication and expression with other subjects in a verbal and non-verbal way. They also learned about some tools to improve and practice expression and body communication such as the representation of professions, feelings of non-verbal form, games of attention and movement, sequences and choreographies (externalization and communication of emotions, sensations or ideas through attitudes and gestures that make possible the release of internal tensions)
