Leadership is a process that focuses in change, guidance and innovation, where the leader is someone who encourages others, supports them and acts appropriately, considering the group’s goals with a strong defined purpose, regarding the needs of the context. This personal leadership statement sought to explore the best definition of leadership and its implications within the educational environment. It begins with the definitions of leadership and authentic leadership from the perspective of different authors, followed by our assumption of leadership, in which it is stated that leadership is member-driven and with awareness of the member’s weaknesses. And finally, it includes a leadership plan to face challenges of the 21st century regarding globalization, technology and engagement of the students to their learning process. This plan concludes that schools need to innovate and ensure quality of foreign language education creating an action plan that adjusts to the students’ needs without exceptions, which must help to solve the problems of learning a second language and motivation.spa
