Al hablar de justicia ambiental, López define que “El concepto de justicia ambiental pone de relieve y demuestra la conexión entre, por una parte, el severo deterioro del entorno natural y, por otra parte, el reparto desigual de sus consecuencias negativas y de las políticas y leyes medioambientales diseñadas para afrontarlo” (López, 2014). Este concepto emergente que ha relucido como respuesta a las acciones que deterioran la naturaleza y el ambiente, entendiendo este último como la triada entre economía, naturaleza y sociedad; sin embargo, estas problemáticas han estado presentes desde décadas anteriores y sus posibles respuestas se pueden remontar a la Cumbre de la Tierra de Estocolmo de 1972. Es así, como esta monografía aporta fundamentos teóricos previos al concepto de justicia ambiental, su relevancia a nivel latinoamericano, en especial en el país colombiano y la caracterización del concepto y su aplicación desde distintos profesionales en formación de la Universidad de Córdoba sobre el conocimiento y la importancia de esta y las medidas a tomar en un mundo de constante evolución, donde el valor integral del hombre y sus relaciones fortalecen la humanidad.

When discussing environmental justice, López defines it as "The concept of environmental justice highlights and demonstrates the connection between, on the one hand, the severe deterioration of the natural environment and, on the other hand, the unequal distribution of its negative consequences and the environmental policies and laws designed to address it" (López, 2014). This emerging concept has come to light as a response to actions that deteriorate nature and the environment, understanding the latter as the triad between economy, nature, and society. However, these issues have been present for decades, and possible responses can be traced back to the 1972 Stockholm Earth Summit. Thus, this monograph provides theoretical foundations on the concept of environmental justice, its relevance at the Latin American level, especially in Colombia, and the characterization of the concept and its application by different professionals in training at the University of Córdoba, regarding the knowledge and importance of it and the measures to be taken in a constantly evolving world, where the integral value of humans and their relationships strengthen humanity.
