Using corrective feedback for error correction in oral communication skills

Corrective feedback (CF) constitutes an opportunity for teachers to work on students´ errors and mistakes during oral communication activities since it provides the correct strategies. This study sought to explore the use of corrective feedback strategies for correcting 9th graders’ errors in oral communication in EFL classes at a secondary public school in Montería, Córdoba. Data was collected through direct observation, a teacher diary, a stimulated recall, and a semi-structured interview. The results revealed that the teacher used repetition to boost self-correction and peer-correction rather than recast and clarification requests which were also used during three online meetings; This study suggests that the effectiveness of CF will depend on the teachers’ knowledge and consciousness about the different techniques that can be implemented when providing feedback and the learners’ uptakes to each one of them.

Internship at saber pro examination english module preparation course

The current report explains the development of an internship carried out across the Saber Pro Examination English module preparation course, at Universidad de Cordoba within students of 7th, 8th and 9th semester from different undergraduate programs. The report also describes the experiences interns have during the preparation course development. The internship aims to goal the increasement of students’ performance levels obtained in the National Board Examination, throughout the implementation of Reading Comprehension strategies and Vocabulary acquisition techniques. The learning approaches whereby the content is going to be taught, are clearly specified as E-Learning and Flipped Learning, which through the development of synchronic and anachronic sessions, served as a base for instructing students about the English Module patterns and the contents explanations. The use of technological tools which let teachers create innovative content presentations and assign activities are a fundamental part to consider inside the internship process. Finally, it contains the most significant finding interns arrived after having implemented the preparation course. The interns’ deeper explanations of the experience they had during the course are reported, in order to demonstrate interns ‘professional and personal growth. Besides some conclusions, regarding the process findings, are stablished. In addition, recommendations and suggestions for future interns are given as well as the description of the limitations and challenges interns had once the preparation course ended.

Saber pro examination english module preparation course

This internship was conducted in Universidad de Córdoba in Montería. The purpose of this report is to highlight my experience in the internship process at the Saber Pro course and remark how these helped to significantly enhance my personal and professional growth as well as my perceptions on the internship once it concluded. The Universidad de Córdoba offers its students the opportunity of implementing their teaching skills in the Saber Pro course whose main purpose is to prepare undergraduate students to take the Saber Pro tests to improve their possibilities of getting outstanding scores, but this is not the only reason why students choose to do an internship but also to gain more experience in the fi eld with the purpose of becoming better English teachers. Moreover, in this piece of writing, I aim to explain the pedagogies of E-learning, Gamification, and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBL). Which I used to carry out my internship.

Internship at saber pro cross curricular competences

The present paper stares to present the Saber Pro course internship process carried out at the University of Cordoba in the General Competences program. The objective of the course is to train students who are about to pass the National Saber Pro test. The E-learning and Flipped Learning strategies conducted by online education were implemented in order to improve students’ results in this mandatory exam.

A phenomenological study of the experiences of foreign language educators in times of pandemic.

The unforeseen arrival of the covid-19 virus brought for the educational sector abruptive changes that resulted in switching from face-to-face classes into remote teaching. The purpose of this phenomenological research was to explore the perceptions of three foreign language teachers in a specific public university in Colombia during Covid-19 pandemic times. This study involves the five steps of Giorgi's method for phenomenological analysis. The data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and a reflective diary. Five themes emerged from the data: 1) Awareness of the need to respond to unexpectedness in teaching, 2)The face of loneliness in the classroom, 3) The despair at not being able to play a pedagogical role, 4) The goodness of practice within an unusual teaching reality, and 5) The longing for change in education. The study highlights that teachers went through a lot of professional and personal challenges, that they described as rewarding and demanding, which led them to implement new methodologies

A personal Leadership Statement

Leadership has been an uncertain term. Many people have defined it, fixing it to their necessities and taking into account the environment in which their leadership is developed; however, the term does not have an exact meaning yet. This paper gives an original and different point of view and understanding of what leadership is. Also, the assumptions that teacher leaders face, empowerment, and future implications for current practices are addressed. In this statement, we report on studies where authors defined the concept of leadership empowerment that can be applied to us as future teacher leaders. The idea is to implement the concept itself as a tool that helps us develop and apply strategies in educational leadership to provide feasible solutions.

The development of leadership skills leads to higher performance and encourages the student population to work harder and achieve personal success. Consequently, it is intended to reach objectives proposed in the academic plans, through the implementation, application of leadership, and empowerment in learning. This paper describes a personal leadership statement rooted in authentic leadership theory at the University of Cordoba. The plan is to complete successfully and to provide an example for future personal leadership statements. In this sense, the plan prepares future teacher leaders to incorporate the principles of leadership and empowerment into their leadership programs as they apply them in specific academic settings. This personal leadership statement proposed details some strategies for expanding leadership skills and empowerment in different scenarios and achieving competence in professional development.

Over the years, school communities have tried to recognize how influential, beneficial, and effective learning development takes place in schools as educators increasingly promote leadership skills. This leadership statement outlines the importance of leadership in education, its elements, characteristics, and strategies as teacher leaders to promote leadership in our future field workplaces. Thus, in this paper, we will detail some of our understanding of the different concepts of leadership, their focus on education, our assumptions, the qualities of empowerment, and our plan to motivate students to be leaders in our future practices. Our idea is to achieve the development of leadership-based strategies for future educators who are able to promote, execute, and lead new projects as a group. A lo largo de los años, las comunidades escolares han tratado de reconocer cuán influyente, beneficioso y efectivo es el desarrollo del aprendizaje en las escuelas a medida que los educadores promueven cada vez más las habilidades de liderazgo. Esta declaración de liderazgo describe la importancia del liderazgo en la educación, sus elementos, características y estrategias como maestros líderes para promover el liderazgo en nuestros futuros lugares de trabajo de campo. Por lo tanto, en este documento detallaremos parte de nuestra comprensión de los diferentes conceptos de liderazgo, su enfoque en la educación, nuestras suposiciones, las cualidades del empoderamiento y nuestro plan para motivar a los estudiantes a ser líderes en nuestras prácticas futuras. Nuestra idea es lograr el desarrollo de estrategias basadas en el liderazgo para futuros educadores que sean capaces de impulsar, ejecutar y liderar nuevos proyectos como grupo.

Although Leadership has been a term used by several people, it is still not defined with certainty, many people have given their opinion and points of view about what leadership is, based on their beliefs and studies, but there is still no widely accepted definition. In this work, I show a little about what leadership is, the points of view of some experts, my assumptions about what this means, and how it can help us as future teachers in the educational field in the search to be leaders in the classroom. as well as empowerment, and implications for the future. With this, I seek to find a way to implement this concept in our daily lives as teachers to achieve successful educational leadership and make the educational experience a little more pleasant.

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the significance of teacher leadership and the definition of leadership and the qualities of a leader. In addition to defining teacher empowerment, describing leadership empowerment, and its benefits for those in the community, to encourage teachers to be effective leaders process at the same time it has the aim to empower students to achieve together a goal in the academic environment and be empowered to prove valuable classes. Additionally, this article provides the authors' assumptions, possible impacts, training knowledge, and personal aims and expectations as future teachers to have proper classroom management and effectively manage the classes.

The lived experience of a teacher of english while generating efl students’ motivation: a phenomenological study

Motivation is considered an important prime mover for all human activity and therefore also for learning in school, foreign language teachers play a vital role in the students’ foreign language learning process. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe the perceptions of a teacher of English concerning his experience to generate motivation in his demotivated students. The study employed Colazzi’s seven-steps method of phenomenological analysis. The researchers collected the data through semi-structured interviews following Seidman’s model and also using reflective diaries. Four themes emerged from the data: (a) being a father and a psychologist in the classroom, (b) a sense of mixed feelings, (c) a struggle for fulfilling a pedagogical role, and (d) Students-centeredness and integratedness in foreign language education. The completion of this study is meaningful to the stakeholders, especially secondary school teachers who can find it helpful to their process of teaching, in order to keep their pupils’ motivation in learning English.

Leadership, as a matter of fact, changes the perspectives of teaching and learning according to the specific approaches chosen to be implemented. With this paper, we aim to convey and remark the positive impact of granting teachers the chance to make their own decisions in accordance with the values chosen to carry out educational strategies, while also giving general information of the topic, our assumptions about the phenomenon and the implications it pertains to the future. This paper is a culminating learning task of a personal leadership statement. Therefore, the goal is to inform those teacher-leaders who are constantly looking for ways they can go beyond the education of their students, innovate, and make real changes in their schools, and therefore in education.

Educational communities are aware of the powerful impact produced by the new era of teacher-leaders and, the incorporation of leadership skills in the field is increasing due to the effective learning development in schools. This leadership statement outlines the relevance of promoting leadership in schools, not only to prepare teachers but also to encourage students to be leaders in their academic and professional future. Thus, in this paper, we will provide an original understanding of the several concepts of leadership, their focus on education, our assumptions of the phenomenon, collaborative work, the qualities of empowerment, and implications for future practices in the process of motivating students to be leaders. Our intention is to achieve the development of leadership-based strategies for future educators who are able to promote, execute, and lead new projects implementing collaborative work.

Through the years, leadership has been related to education and how teachers can apply their lead in the classroom while teaching a foreign language. Throughout their career, teachers are seen as guides in reasoning, and guides in the creation of the personal project in their students’ lives. Therefore, understanding and exploring the teacher leader’s role in the educational field is important. Leadership has been defined in different ways, hence there is no precise concept and this has caused different assumptions and misunderstandings that are based on things different from reality. This paper seeks to show our perception of teacher leadership, our leadership as a group and as individuals, as well as the implications that teacher empowerment will have on our professional lives.

As documented in history, the concept of leadership was initially awarded to those who stood out in the community for having the ability to perform complex tasks. Over the years, this term has been widely applied in different fields, including education. This personal leadership statement results from research, analysis, and reflection of data that prove the importance of this phenomenon among teachers for teaching a foreign language. In addition, this paper contains relevant literature on this topic. Likewise, our own action plan and the implications for the future of our teaching work. This statement is the starting point for a future path of building leadership and empowerment in our teaching work.

Leadership has been associated and used in education throughout history. However, due to misdirection and a lack of comprehension of its complexity, assumptions based on unrealistic expectations have been made. The importance of this phenomenon to foreign language teachers led us to reflect deeply and create this personal leadership statement. In this paper, we will go into great detail on leadership and empowering leadership, and also how this concept is related to the teaching role. Additionally, we will study the varied approaches and qualities of effective teachers. In a similar manner, with this statement, we seek to discuss the major goals of a competent teacher leader in the classroom and how to develop leadership skills in professional educators and in the teaching of foreign languages.

Leadership is a complex phenomenon that has been studied over the years due to its importance for the development of people and organizations. That is why, through the study of related literature and group discussions, we seek to explore this phenomenon in a rigorous way in order to have relevant knowledge that allows us to understand a solid meaning of leadership; additionally, we seek to discover its practicality in our lives. Throughout this document, our exploratory journey on leadership is presented; from our initial conceptions about leadership to our commitments for the future as teacher leaders. Our plan is to successfully honor what it means to be a teacher leader; we plan to create a positive impact on our community. Our goal is to engage in our work as teacher leaders and create strong bonds with the people in our community to inspire and empower new generations of leaders.
