In order to properly include leadership and empowerment into education, both individually and collectively, we first define these terms. This personal leadership statement emphasizes the skills and resources required to be an effective leader. Additionally, it is founded on earlier studies that have shown how effective leadership is in diverse areas of human engagement. Then, the introduction to the essay, which talks about the different definitions that leadership has, in its general essence and nature. In order to reach or achieve empowerment during the teaching and learning leadership of the apprentices, teachers need to start making their own cooperative decisions based on the given resources in order to take the risk of improving, enriching, and developing new proposals based on the diversity found in the educational environment. This paper focus on highlighting the importance of being an empowered teacher leader in the classroom. This guided course provided all of us with the necessary qualities and characteristics to recognize our main factions as leaders, and also how to use these characteristics to positively influence the educational system in our environment. This paper is a culminating learning task of a Lifelong Professional Development: Empowering Foreign Language Teachers course. Accordingly, this statement seeks to bring innovative and transformational ideas about learning and authentic leadership to the educational community as a support for their journey into the ever-changing educational system. It is important to deal with the acceptance of leadership as a discipline, achieve consensus on course content, and integration on the part of the staff and influence the intrinsic motivation of students to achieve their progress. We must move toward transformational leadership, in order to form the foundation that strengthens us to take hold of distributive leadership. In this scenario, it is vital to consider the interrelated factors that have been identified, such as personal, social, structural, contextual, and developmental. Educational principles must serve as a basis for supporting inclusion, participation, and engagement, as well as sustainable leadership. In the future, the passion we have for teaching will be reflected in the classroom, transmitting meaningful knowledge, that is, useful knowledge for the students, showing ourselves as good examples of citizens committed to our country and with a high sense of belonging. Humility teaches us that the true protagonists of learning are not us but our students. Humility feeds on listening, i.e., active and empathetic listening to the students, their feelings, emotions, and knowledge. All in all, ourselves as leaders for our students. Leaders that they love for accepting each other as they are. Thus, in this paper, we will give a response that may show our own disposition and understanding of leadership in relation to the several concepts of leadership, collaborative work, and empowerment. There have been many studies inquiring about the impact of leadership in different knowledge areas. Despite that, it seems as though no studies address the role of leadership skills in teachers in the classroom. This case study describes the leadership skills of three secondary English teachers and how they use those skills in the classroom. Data includes semi-structured interviews, and focus group. Findings revealed that teachers have at least four of the five specific skills indicated in the theoretical framework. Moreover, it was disclosed that teachers use their leadership skills to stimulate students to become active learners, participate and be motivated; to create a relationship of mutual understanding, to be guidance, and reinforce cooperative learning.Publicación Acceso abierto Lifelong professional development: empowering foreign language teachers(2023-02-19) Argel Marquez, Zuleima; Narvaez Hernandez, Eliana Judith; Aguas Castillo, PedroCurrent and future teachers like us and in general all the subjects involved in the challenging world of education need to keep in mind the essential role of leadership skills and their empowerment not only in teachers but also in the students. We assume collaborative work as a key strategy to achieve real leadership skills given its high relevance to developing social and cognitive skills that reinforce the acquisition of leadership skills. This paper basically attempts to follow Matshediso’s (2008) statement which focuses mainly on teachers leadership and the way how professional training help to enhance this ability not only in teachers but also in the rest of actors involved in the process, especially the students in early cognitive stages(from birth to 9). It also provides personal assumptions about the topic and finally exposes the main implications of leadership empowerment for future teachers.
