The purpose of this research is to analyze the use and exploitation of rural soils in the municipality of Cereté for food security and the supply of the peasant market in the CEREABASTOS square of this population. For this, a descriptive study is developed, with qualitative data treatment; The research is exploratory with a cross-sectional design, and there is a population of 40 peasant market traders to whom a survey questionnaire was applied. The study is approached from the perspective of rural geography; First, the socioeconomic characteristics and land ownership of the peasant market traders are determined, then the types of crops and rural land uses are characterized by the population under study and finally the pertinent conclusions are issued.
