| spa |
dc.description.abstract | Eng: In process monitoring, two phases can be clearly distinguished: Phase I and Phase II. Phase I serves mainly to stabilize the process and estimate parameters, and is fundamental to achieve efficient process monitoring in Phase II, which is responsible for on-line monitoring once Phase I has been completed. Often, the distribution of the statistic with which the process monitoring is done is known, however, in some cases, the distribution of the monitoring statistic is unknown. An alternative in these cases is the use of Bootstrap procedures, however, the charts constructed under this methodology have shown some deficiencies in their performance in Phase I. In this work, an EWMA type control chart with dynamic limits is proposed to monitor the mean of aggregated Birnbaum-Saunders (BS) data and its performance in Phase I and Phase II is studied, using as criteria its control limits, their standard deviations and the average run length (ARL); from which, it was found that in general the proposed chart works much better than the chart established for the monitoring of a process following a Birnabum-Saunders distribution. | eng |
