This article addresses a literature review on the subject of public policies and indigenous communities in Colombia; presented by the definition of public policies, definition of indigenous community and the identification of these policies in Colombia in relation to indigenous communities. Since throughout history, indigenous communities have been settled in the national territory long before the Spanish conquest and colony and have maintained their indigenous cosmogony to this day. However, it is necessary to determine the type of policy and its effectiveness on these communities. This article seeks to gather in a general way doctrinal concept related to public policies and indigenous communities, and also to identify the public policies related to indigenous communities that guarantee the rights of these communities.
