dc.description.abstractLa presente revisión se centra en el perfil hematológico de la Iguana verde (Iguana iguana), una especie ampliamente distribuida en América Latina y el Caribe, cuya presencia ha aumentado tanto en entornos naturales como en espacios urbanos y domésticos. Esta situación ha despertado un creciente interés por su salud y bienestar, especialmente en contextos de tenencia responsable y conservación. El documento parte de la necesidad de contar con datos hematológicos precisos, ya que la falta de estandarización dificulta los procesos diagnósticos y limita una atención veterinaria adecuada. Uno de los principales problemas identificados es la fragmentación de la información existente. Si bien se han realizado diversos estudios, muchos de ellos presentan inconsistencias metodológicas o se enfocan en poblaciones muy específicas, lo que impide generalizar los hallazgos. Además, variables como la edad, el sexo, la época del año y las condiciones ambientales influyen significativamente en los valores hematológicos, pero en la mayoría de los trabajos no se abordan de forma sistemática.spa
