Objective: To explore ancestral knowledge and practices in the prevention and control of dengue in an Embera Katío indigenous community in the Department of Cordoba. Materials and methods: Descriptive study with a qualitative approach, the results were obtained using the semi-structured interview technique, which was applied through a question guide to 20 people representing indigenous families belonging to an indigenous community of the Embera Katío in Tierralta, Cordoba. Results: Most of the participants expressed basic but important knowledge regarding dengue disease, and these, with ancestral practices, promote prevention and facilitate initial care. Conclusions: It was determined that knowledge related to dengue disease is limited, but regarding the form of treatment and prevention, ancestral practices are broad, for this reason, government entities must work to strengthen and increase their knowledge.
