Self-care is a regulatory function of people that must be carried out deliberately by oneself, to maintain their life, development and well-being. Objective. to determine the health self-care of nursing students from a Colombian state university in the year 2020. Methodology. Descriptive, cross-sectional research. The population was 249 students enrolled in the second academic period of 2020, The sample was represented by 150 students from the Nursing program. using the probability, stratified random sampling technique. A survey was used for the collection of the information, the Excel program for the processing and analysis of the information. Results. The female population predominates, between 18 and 28 years old, single from urban areas. The actions they carry out for self-care are that, in nutrition and hydration, a higher percentage of nursing students habitually consume the three meals and the necessary nutrients, which allows a greater strengthening in terms of their educational process, it is highlighted that students hydrate as necessary, not all students engage in physical activity. Most of the students are aware of self-care practices in terms of rest, and in relation to cigarette and alcohol consumption, this is positive. The research allows us to conclude that the students carry out some practices on health self-care, but assume an indifferent attitude to these approaches. Objective: To describe the self-care practices carried out by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, through a narrative review of the scientific literature published between the years 2010-2020. Methodology: Narrative literature review study. Results: Through this review, it has been possible to know that adults with DM2 do not maintain good habits and self-care behaviors for the maintenance of health and control of the disease, it should also be noted that in the results it was always observed that women are more careful and responsible for their health and maintain better self-care practices compared to men. Conclusions: In most of the investigations, the lack of practices of self-care, monitoring, and self-care management, carried out by adults with DM2, was evidenced, which makes them prone to developing complications and decreasing their quality of life.
