To estimate the seroprevalence of Neospora caninum in canines in rural areas of the department of Córdoba, Colombia. Materials and methods. An exploratory descriptive study of cross-sectional convenience was carried out in 180 dogs from 5 municipalities of the department of Córdoba. The samples were taken from blood sera and analyzed by competitive ELISA using the commercial kit ID Screen® Neospora caninum Competition (LMV S.A.S.). Results. The general seropositivity of antibodies against N. caninum was 1.61% (3/180). Regarding the sex variable, the frequency in males was 1.11% (2/180) and in females 0.55% (1/180). Regarding the age group, seropositivity to N. caninum was found only in the adult group 1.61% (3/180), in the reproductive status and race variable, it was found that the seropositive individuals were mestizos (3/180) and entire (3/180), the large size group were the only ones with seropositivity 1.61% (3/180). Conclusion. In spite of being a very low seropositivity in relation to other national studies, it allows evidencing the presence of N. caninum in the department of Córdoba and the Caribbean region, being the first study in canines.
