However, the management that has been given to prevention and care strategies is centered on medical and chemical methods, ignoring the traditional knowledge and practices that the communities possess. Objective: To interpret the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the indigenous people of a reservation in the Department of Córdoba related to the prevention and control of dengue, to build a community strategy for the prevention of dengue. Methodology: The qualitative paradigm was used under a microethnographic design where participant observation, 1 focus group, 23 semi-structured interviews and social cartography were applied. Results: the participating population has a low level of academic training, their work activities are related to the informal sector of the economy, 21 of the participants do not have access to drinking water at home. On the other hand, basic knowledge about the transmission mechanism of dengue, symptoms and the type of vector that transmits it is evidenced. Doubts and inconsistencies persist in said knowledge that needs to be strengthened, such as those related to the conception and form of transmission of this disease. Conclusion: Practices related to the prevention and control of dengue were found, such as the incense of native plants of the region or fumigation techniques with chemical products, which shows the articulation between the modern and the traditional that from the perspective of the present investigation result very important for the design and planning of the strategy.
