La escuela como sujeto colectivo en el conflicto armado: el caso de la comunidad educativa de Villanueva (Valencia, Córdoba) abordado desde un enfoque de memoria histórica
(2021-04-04) Márquez Banda, José Luis; Arteaga Arteaga, Lizeth Dayana; Taborda Caro, Alejandra; Yunis Marulanda, Juana
In the last years, there has been a surge in research focused on understanding the dynamics and impact of the armed conflict in the state of Córdoba, Colombia. Likewise, at the national level, there seems to be greater awareness on the importance of enhancing our understanding of how the armed conflict has particularly affected school communities. However, this continues to be an under-researched filed, with almost no precedents in Córdoba. This research intents to respond to this void through a study focused on the rural school community of Villanueva, Valencia. Moreover, this research offers conceptual and methodological innovations in the sense that it suggests that schools should be understand as “collective subjects”. Methodologically, the research involves two levels: the author‟s involvement in a participatory research related to collective memory, and an analysis carried out through a historical memory approach. The study concludes that the Villanueva school community has been affected in multiple ways and that its collective action repertoires can be understood as examples of resilience but not of resistance. Likewise, this work argues that Villanueva should not be understood as an isolated case, but rather as a case that is representative of the logics of paramilitary social control, whereby, while blood was being spilled and terror was imposed, some communities in Colombia were captured by them and received material benefits as part of a strategy of legitimation and territorial control.

“Por buenos, no los mataron”: discursos sobre la limpieza social, en El Meridiano de Córdoba (1995-2005)
(2021-01-25) Ossa Navarro, Hernando de la; Taborda Caro, Alejandra
The practice of violence commonly referred to as "social cleansing" consists of a systematic process of social extermination towards subjects considered undesirable or residual in modern society. This research is framed within the discourses on social cleansing contained in El Meridiano de Córdoba. Therefore, the main objective is to describe the discourses on social cleansing, contained in the press archive of el Meridiano de Córdoba newspaper, based on the relationship between vulnerability and mourning in the socio-political context of the department of Córdoba from 1995 to 2005, operating from Foucault's archaeological methodology which consists of a historical trace, within a specific space and time of the conditions that make possible a discursive formation. The use of this theoretical and methodological framework allowed in addition to making visible the social cleansing during the aforementioned period which coincides with the paramilitary preeminence in Córdoba, to understand how social relations were fractured to the point of considering lives worthy of mourning and deaths well spent from El meridiano discursive networks which, among other things, allowed and legitimized paramilitary practices towards the vulnerable population in the department. This dynamic responds to a discourse of counterinsurgency and global security order that is adopted in our national/local context by the hegemonic elites and state institutions as an acceptable socio-political and moral standard. Finally, social cleansing can be read as a project of social impositionrecomposition and a moral economy in which society must remain in canons that do not refute the logics of the dominant power.
