Publicación Embargo Caracterización de la conectividad estructural del bosque seco tropical en la ecorregión montes de María, Caribe colombiano(Universidad de Córdoba, 2024-08-01) Medina Olivera, Juan David; Gómez Ramos, Arnulfo Manuel; Chacón Pacheco, Julio Javier; Durango Bertel, Jairo Manuel; Puerta Avilés, Óscar AntonioThe Tropical Dry Forest (TDF) is a unique biome characterized by marked seasonality and the unique adaptations of flora and fauna to extreme climatic conditions. Additionally, this biome provides valuable ecosystem services to human populations. This research explores the structural connectivity of the TDF in the Montes de María ecoregion, Colombian Caribbean, over several years. The research focuses on characterizing the structure of the tropical dry forest in the Montes de María ecoregion during the years 2014, 2018, and 2022. To achieve this objective, a variety of analytical techniques and tools were employed. Specifically, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was used as a key indicator of the health and vitality of the vegetation cover in the region. Additionally, the calculation of Land Cover Units, adapted to the Corine Land Cover legend (Level 2), was performed, allowing for a detailed classification of land cover types in the study area. This approach facilitated the identification and monitoring of land cover changes over the years. An essential part of this study included a structural analysis of the landscape, which involved the calculation of landscape metrics. This analysis was carried out using Rstudio version 4.3 and the Landscapemetrics tool. These metrics provided valuable information on the structural connectivity of the tropical dry forest in the Montes de María ecoregion.Publicación Acceso abierto Determinación de áreas óptimas para uso potencial del suelo residencial (edificios de apartamentos) mediante sistemas de información geográfica en la ciudad de Montería.(2020-01-24) Navarro Sánchez, José Carlos; Gómez Ramos, Arnulfo Manuel; Torres Ospino, José Luis; Jiménez Caldera, Juan Eduardo; Puerta Avilés, Óscar Antonio; Aguilar Jiménez, Teonila Ided; Castro Guerra, Wilson BayardoThis section highlights the importance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their applicability in the area of urban growth, because they allow to determine accurately and spatially represent the occupation of the territory, where social, economic, environmental factors, among others, are involved. From this, GIS and Multicriterio Evaluation (EMC) were used under the Booleana Logic in order to determine optimal areas for residential occupation, (towers of multifamily apartments) in the city of Montería (Colombia), around 355,317 inhabitants, who have put pressure on urban growth. The results show an optimal area of 15000 square meters located on the north-eastern side of Montería, within Commune Number Eight, an area that has an optimal capacity to house new residential facilities, based on an analysis that involves social, environmental and accessibility aspects. Highlighting the importance of the north-eastern part of the city as a new focus of growth, in terms of optimal location and recent urban developments.
