Publicación Acceso abierto Relación espacial entre el fenómeno de “la niña” 2010 – 2011 y el comportamiento del cultivo de maíz en la subregión media de la cuenca del río Sinú(2020-10-28) Caro Junco, Eva María; Gómez Ramos, Arnulfo ManuelColombia experiences each year two climatic variability phenomena known as "El Niño" and "La Niña". This process has been permeated by climate change which has caused periods to intensify, leading to extreme situations such as droughts or floods. In the middle sub-region of the Sinu River basin, maize is one of the main transient crops because it has soils suitable for planting. This research seeks to establish the spatial relationship between the La Niña phenomenon that occurred at the end of 2010 and during 2011, and the cultivation of maize in the middle sub-region of the Sinu River basin, taking into account the planted area, harvested area, production and yield of this, from the previous year (2009) and the following years (2012222), 2013, 2014, 2015) to the phenomenon, as a reference for observing crop behavior, before and after what happened. This research was based on secondary information provided by the institutional geoportals of the competent entities that are related to the variables used. This research concludes that the phenomenon of "La Niña" did influence the behavior of maize cultivation in the middle sub-region of the Sinu River basin. Directly, with flooding, affecting municipalities in their crop production, however, other factors such as cultural factors or seed improvement practices that explain the behavior of each municipality, as well as the spatial location of these and soil characteristics, can be taken into account.
