However, the main challenge faced by Colombian courts is process accumulation, resulting in significant retards in processing and resolution of the cases. The third family court in the circuit of Monteria is not an exception to this problem, as is evident in the amount of cases from this year and years ago that are currently in progress, not to mention the processes that arrive on a daily basis, generating concern about opportune justice access for the parties involved in family and constitutional nature cases. In this regard, it is necessary to explore new strategies and approaches to help reduce the backlog of cases and improve the efficiency of the judicial system. One of them is opening internships in the courts for law students so they can participate in judicial activities while providing help in the management of the proceedings. So, the intention of this research paper is to determine the contribution and effects of the internship program in the Third Family Court of the Circuit of Monteria in the decongestion and speed of judicial processes. In order to achieve this objective, the following specific objectives are propose: i) To apply the knowledge acquired in the academic training through direct participation in the proceedings of the Third Family Court of the Circuit of Monteria. ii) To identify the practical implications of the internship in the Third Family Court of the Circuit of Monteria. iii) To determine the benefits and possible challenges associated with the internship in the context of the above mentioned court. This research work will specifically address the contribution of the internship in the Third Family Court of the Circuit of Monteria, with the purpose of determining its capacity to reduce the congestion of judicial processes and increase the speed of their resolution. Through an exhaustive and rigorous analysis, we will seek to determine how the internship contributes to the decongestion and speed of judicial processes in the Third Family Court of the Circuit of Monteria. For this objective, a methodology with a mixed approach was used (qualitative and quantitative). And the procedure employed consisted of several phases. First step was collecting data on waiting times in the Third Family Court of the Circuit of Monteria. Then, intern actively participated in judicial processes and had carried out surveys to the court personnel. Subsequently, the intern collected post-intervention data and made an analysis (quantitative) of the surveys. Making possible patterns and emerging themes identification. Finally, details of the activities carried out during the internship are given. The results are analyzed, and conclusions are reached to propose the pertinent recommendations.
