The evolutionary development methodology was adopted for this purpose, using the prolog language as a functional mechanism of logic programming, the computational paradigm on which this system is based. The stages carried out during the development process are shown, obtaining a functional prototype which allows the carrying out of basic and specialized queries that the user can do as a reinforcement of the learning activity related to the taxonomy of invertebrate animals. In addition, the causes that generate learning difficulties in relation to this topic were identified and a didactic unit was established that allows the application of Taxaniv in related areas of biology. The incorporation of this knowledge-based system will strengthen the learning processes associated with the taxonomy of invertebrates and facilitate the obtaining of information regarding this group of animals through simple and specialized queries.
