This crop represents about 50% of the planted area in the country with approximately 500,000 cultivated hectares and is of great socioeconomic importance in Colombia, because it generates 35,000 direct jobs and 110,000 indirect jobs per year and because it is one of the basic components of the family basket, this is reflected in the high per capita consumption of 155 kg/year. The development of this research work consisted in evaluating the effects of the different longitudinal cuts applied to a banana explant. In this process, the application of three types of longitudinal cuts was carried out in a plantain explant during its in vitro establishment, this was done in order to obtain a greater number of shoots for each established explant. This work was carried out at the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory located at the University of Córdoba, in the city of Montería. Significant results were obtained between the established treatments.Introducción. ..................................................................................................131.
