A nivel metodológico, se parte del tipo de investigación cualitativo desde una línea descriptiva. Con relación a la población, se seleccionaron 19 referentes documentales entre artículos, textos, normativa legal resoluciones y decretos correspondientes al tema en estudio y conferencias, que fueron filtrados por medio de la búsqueda en plataformas y gestores bibliográficos y la página del Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social, de lo que se obtiene dentro de los principales resultados, destacar que la seguridad del paciente es un conjunto de elementos estructurales, técnicas, instrumentos y metodologías basadas en evidencias científicamente probadas y sistémicas , que propenden por minimizar el riesgo de sufrir un evento adverso en el proceso de atención de salud o de mitigar sus consecuencias.The purpose of this compilation monograph was to obtain information on the role of the auditor in monitoring the patient safety program, as a tool for improving the quality of health care in Colombia. At the methodological level, it starts from the type of qualitative research from a descriptive line. In relation to the population, 19 documentary references were selected among articles, texts, legal regulations, resolutions and decrees corresponding to the subject under study and conferences, which were filtered through the search in platforms and bibliographic managers and the page of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, from what is obtained within the main results, highlight that patient safety is a set of structural elements, techniques, instruments and methodologies based on scientifically proven and systemic evidence, which tend to minimize the risk of suffering an event adverse effect on the health care process or to mitigate its consequences.
