La atención que se brinda en este entorno responde a la condición clínica del paciente, orientada a su estabilización y recuperación progresiva. Objetivo. Comprender las experiencias de los pacientes en estado crítico hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de una clínica en Montería, Córdoba, 2025. Materiales y métodos. Estudio cualitativo, fenomenológico, con muestreo intencional. Participaron nueve pacientes adultos, conscientes y clínicamente estables. Se aplicaron entrevistas semiestructuradas individuales, que fueron grabadas, transcritas y analizadas mediante codificación abierta y agrupación temática. Resultados. La caracterización sociodemográfica demuestra que, la mayoría de los participantes eran hombres en edad laboral activa, en su mayoría la procedencia es del área urbana, afiliados al régimen subsidiado, predominando la unión libre como estado civil, de igual manera, el nivel de secundaria incompleta como escolaridad, por último, el acompañamiento principal esta dado por mujeres. Del análisis emergieron cuatro categorías centrales: sentimientos durante el ingreso a la UCI, percepción de la calidad del cuidado, afectaciones físicas, emocionales y sociales, y relación con el personal de enfermería. Conclusiones. La atención de enfermería fue valorada en gran medida por la apreciación de los pacientes, aunque se identificaron aspectos mejorables en cuanto a tiempos de respuesta y atención a necesidades básicas. Los hallazgos contribuyen a optimizar la atención en contextos clínicos de alta complejidad. To understand the experiences of critically ill patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of a clinic in Montería, Córdoba, in 2025. Materials and Methods. Qualitative, phenomenological study with intentional sampling. Nine adult, conscious, and clinically stable patients participated. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted, recorded, transcribed, and analyzed through open coding and thematic grouping. Results. The sociodemographic characterization shows that most participants were working-age men, predominantly from urban areas, affiliated with the subsidized health regime, mostly in common-law unions as their marital status, and with incomplete secondary education. Additionally, women provided the main support during hospitalization. From the analysis, four main categories emerged: feelings during ICU admission, perception of care quality, physical, emotional, and social impacts, and the relationship with nursing staff. Conclusions. Nursing care was highly valued by the patients, although areas for improvement were identified regarding response times and attention to basic needs. The findings contribute to optimizing care in high-complexity clinical settings.
