Non-attendance to prenatal care generates serious consequences for both the mother and the newborn, because it is decisive not only in the management of complications that may occur during labor and delivery, but also in the prevention of maternal and neonatal mortality. Objective: To determine the factors associated with non-attendance at the prenatal care program for pregnant women in the municipality of Caucasia in 2019. Materials and methods: descriptive, cross-sectional study, carried out in two IPS in the municipality of Caucasia-Antioquia. The sample was made up of 266 pregnant women who voluntarily decided to participate in the study. Results: 60% belong to socioeconomic stratum 2, 20% are in a vulnerable condition, 44% worked during their gestation, and 48% are high school graduates, 71% are subsidized and 2% are not insured, 26 % live in rural areas and their economy depends 47% on their partner, the highest proportion lives with a partner or family of the partner, 70% were not planning and 70% of the pregnancies were unplanned, 50% accessed prenatal care during the first trimester, 56% complied with controls according to their gestational age, 39% attended about 6 to 7 controls, 29% attended 2 prenatal controls, the reason for absence without justification was 62, 78%, however 14% did not attend due to illness, the most frequent complication was anemia with 53%. Conclusion: Social and economic factors associated with the absence of the care program for maternal care by the pregnant woman were identified, in addition to the lack of motivation to comply with the programmed controls.
